Qair Takes Full Ownership of Ayre Offshore Wind Farm

Project Admin

Ayre Offshore Wind Farm has entered a new chapter following Qair's acquisition of full ownership of the project.

The change, agreed between the partners of Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) – Qair, DEME and Aspiravi – aligns ownership with each company's areas of expertise and will support the continued development of Scotland's offshore wind sector.

As part of the agreement, Qair has become the sole developer of Ayre Offshore Wind Farm, while DEME and Aspiravi have taken full ownership of the Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm project.

Located to the east of Orkney and north-east of Caithness, Ayre Offshore Wind Farm is a proposed 1 GW floating offshore wind project with the potential to generate enough renewable electricity to power more than 1.2 million homes. The project forms an important part of Scotland's ambitions to become a global leader in floating offshore wind and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon energy system.

Full ownership reinforces Qair's long-term commitment to the project and the communities and businesses across the North of Scotland that will play a key role in its development.

Ayre Offshore Wind Farm remains focused on progressing through the development and consenting process, working closely with stakeholders and local communities as the project moves towards construction, currently anticipated from 2030.
